Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s Communication
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Larry Hughes, Ed.D. to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. Additionally, the Governor reappointed Jennifer Clarner and appointed Cameron McElhany, Janith Mills, and John Scott, D.O. for terms set to expire February 1, 2023. The Governor named Karrie Lynn Crosby chair of the board.
Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Larry Hughes, Ed.D. to the Texas Physician Assistant Board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2025. Additionally, the Governor reappointed Jennifer Clarner and appointed Cameron McElhany, Janith Mills, and John Scott, D.O. for terms set to expire February 1, 2023. The Governor named Karrie Lynn Crosby chair of the board. The board issues physician assistant licenses to qualified individuals to practice in the State of Texas.
Karrie Lynn Crosby of Robinson is a Physician Assistant for Southwest Sports Medicine & Orthopedics at Baylor Scott & White Health – Hillcrest. She has worked for Baylor Scott & White for over 20 years. Prior to her current position, she worked at the Baylor Scott & White – in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine, East Texas Medical Center, and Longview Regional Hospital. She is a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, American Academy of Physician Assistants, and Texas Orthopaedic Association. Crosby received a Bachelor of Science in physician assistant studies from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from The University of Texas-Pan American.
Larry Hughes, Ed.D. of Frisco is a zone vice president of operations at 7-Eleven, Inc. Prior to joining 7-Eleven, he served in a variety of leadership assignments in the retailing and hospitality sectors. Hughes previously served as a founding member of the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City – Kansas City. He is a national board member of the Armed Services YMCA and a group leader in Bible Study Fellowship International. In addition, he serves as a life member of the National Black MBA Association and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army and Army National Guard. Hughes received a Bachelor of Science in U.S. history from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago, Master of Science in Management from Baker University, and Doctor of Education in Human and Organizational Learning from George Washington University.
Jennifer Clarner of Austin is a lead physician assistant at Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgeons. She is certified by the National Commission of Certified Physician Assistants and a member of the Central Texas Physician Assistant Society and Association of Physician Assistants in Cardiovascular Surgery. Clarner received a Bachelor of Science in medical technology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Cameron McElhany of Austin is an architectural consultant at LaForce, Inc. Prior to his current position, he worked as a sales representative for Southern Glazer’s. He currently serves as vice president of the Austin chapter of the Construction Specification Institute. In addition, he is an allied member of the American Institute of Architects. McElhany received a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication Media Studies from Texas A&M University.
Janith Mills of Irving is a physician assistant for the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. She previously served as a physician assistant at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. She is member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Texas Academy of Physicians. She also volunteers for the street shelter ministry at St. Monica Catholic Church. Mills received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from The University of Texas at Austin, Bachelor of Science in physician assistant from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
John Scott, D.O. of Keller is the chief marketing officer, and chairman of the board of ALLCARE Physicians Group. He most recently served as an anesthesiologist at U.S. Anesthesia Partners. He served as a Major in the United States Army Reserves until his Honorable Discharge. He currently serves on the Texas Medical Review Board District Three Review Committee. He also serves on the board of directors of Elite Physicians Group and Premier Physicians Group. In addition, he is a member of the Texas Society of Anesthesiologists, Delegate to the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Scott received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from Lamar University, a Master of Health Administration from Louisiana State University – Shreveport and a Doctor of Osteopathy from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
