1 injured after Longview apartment fire

   

Investigators found the cause of the fire to be empty cardboard food boxes left on the stove top catching fire when the stove top was accidently turned on.

LONGVIEW, Texas — One person was taken to the hospital after an apartment fire in Longview Thursday morning. 

According to the Longview Fire Department, crews arrived at the apartment in the 1500 block of Seventh Street to find heavy black smoke from the front window and the resident was lying in the front doorway. 

Firefighters were able to get the resident out of the front door, and then they searched for more people in the home. The fire was under control within five minutes. One person was taken to the hospital for treatment, but no other injuries were reported, the fire department said.
