DALLAS — One person was killed in a fire at an apartment complex in southern Dallas Thursday morning, officials say.
Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were called to the fire at an apartment complex in the 7500 block of Chaucer Place shortly after 7 a.m., according to a press release.
“When firefighters arrived at the two-story apartment building, they observed smoke coming from a unit on the first floor,” the press release read. “They were able to quickly access the apartment and extinguish what was left of a small fire, but during the process, they found the deceased body of an adult male inside.”
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man killed.
Dallas Fire-Rescue says the cause of the fire will be listed as undetermined, pending the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s final determination on the man’s cause of death.
Dallas Fire-Rescue said the damage was limited to one apartment, so no other residents were displaced.
