SAN ANTONIO – One person is dead, and another person was wounded during a shooting at a car club meetup on the city’s Southwest Side late Sunday night, according to San Antonio police.
The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. near the intersection of Dunton Street and Afcoms Way, not far from Quintana Road.
According to police, gunshots were fired during the meetup and the 18-year-old victim was found on the ground. That’s when, police say, another a man in his 40s tried to help, but more gunshots were fired.
The second man was also wounded, but managed to get into his truck and drive away to Cupples Road and General Hudnell, where he called for help. He was taken to by EMS to University Hospital and he’s expected to recover. The teen found shot was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.
So far, a motive for the shooting is not currently known. SAPD did not provide a description of a suspect.
The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
