1 person dies in Dallas swiftwater incident, police say

 

A 911 caller reported a man driving into a pond Sunday near the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Bruton Road in southern Dallas.

DALLAS — A man died in a swiftwater incident in southern Dallas Sunday, police said. 

Dallas police responded to a report of someone driving into a pond Sunday around 2:27 p.m. near the interseciton of2nd Avenue and Bruton Road, police said in a statement. The 911 caller told police they did not see the driver exit the vehicle. 

Dallas Fire-Rescue’s swift water personnel also responded to the incident, pulled the man out of the car and immedietly performing started CPR, according to police. The man was unresponsive and transported to a hospital where he later died, police said. 

The victim was later identified as 51-year-old Jose Tamez-Prado by the Dallas County Medical Examiner. 

Dallas police did not immedietly offer additional information about the incident.
