10-year-old boy shot in ankle in drive-by shooting near Woodlawn Lake, SAPD says

  

SAN ANTONIO – A 10-year-old boy was shot in the ankle during a drive-by shooting at a home near Woodlawn Lake, according to San Antonio police.

The shooting happened at a home in the 1600 block of West French Place around 5:15 a.m. Thursday.

Details around the shooting are limited, but SAPD confirmed the child was shot in the ankle. They were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Information about a potential suspect is not immediately known.

There were six other children in the home at the time of the shooting, according to police.

Last April, 61-year-old Jesus Mares Ortega was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting at the same home.

Police did not say if the two shootings were connected.
