HAYS COUNTY, Texas – The Hays County Sheriff’s Office said a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody in connection with a deadly shooting on Tuesday afternoon.
Sheriff’s deputies said they responded to a “suspicious circumstances” call just before 5 p.m. on Canna Lily Circle in Driftwood, Texas.

When deputies arrived, the sheriff’s office said the 14-year-old shot a girl at least once.
The girl was later pronounced dead, officials said.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the girl’s death as a homicide on Wednesday, deputies said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the shooter and the victim both lived inside the same home, but their connection is unclear.
The Hays County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to KSAT on Wednesday that the victim was also a teenager, but deputies did not disclose her age.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Hays County Juvenile Detention Center, according to a Hays County Sheriff’s Office news release. It is unclear what or how many charges the suspect is facing.
According to the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau, Driftwood — which is located approximately 70 miles northeast of downtown San Antonio — had a reported population of 106 people.
