FLOWER MOUND, Texas — A Lewisville ISD ninth grader has died after she was hit by a vehicle in North Texas Tuesday, officials say.
Officers were called to the Dec. 2 crash at the intersection of Valley Ridge Boulevard and Browning Drive in Flower Mound shortly before 4 p.m., police say.
The pedestrian, a 14-year-old Flower Mound girl, was taken to Medical City Denton hospital by the Flower Mound Fire Department, where she died, officials say.
Investigators determined the driver, who was in a 2020 Chevrolet pickup truck, was stopped at the stop sign facing south in the 6000 block of Browning Road, and the girl was hit as she began crossing the street, police say.
Lewisville ISD confirmed the girl was a ninth-grade student at Marcus High School.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that a Marcus 9th Grade Campus student was killed today in an auto pedestrian accident off campus. Our thoughts are with the family during this very difficult time. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not be sharing further personal information. Our crisis counseling team is available to support students and staff as they process this news,” Lewisville ISD said.
The driver, a 60-year-old Lewisville resident, wasn’t injured and remained at the scene, officials say. Neither the pedestrian nor the driver was identified.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing and the roads remain closed in the area as of Tuesday evening.
