17-year-old suspect in Round Rock Juneteenth shooting arrested

   

ROUND ROCK, Texas — A 17-year-old from Manor was arrested Thursday morning in connection to a shooting in Round Rock at a Juneteenth celebration over the weekend that left two people dead and 14 wounded.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested the minor on charges of second-degree aggravated assault with a de adly weapon. He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said in a press conference Thursday that the minor was not the only shooter, and an investigation is ongoing to identify who else was involved. The minor and anyone else involved could face additional charges.

The Round Rock Police Department identified the people who were killed as 33-year-old Lyndsey Vicknair, from Manor, and 54-year-old Ara Duke, from Pflugerville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene and were not involved in the shooting.

The incident happened during a Juneteenth celebration at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock when an altercation between two groups started and someone began shooting. Police said there was no indication that the shooting involved gang activity.
