18-year-old walking on sidewalk wounded in apparent drive-by shooting on NW Side

An 18-year-old walking on a sidewalk was shot twice in an apparent drive-by shooting on the city’s Northwest Side late Thursday night, San Antonio police said.

Officers were called around 10:40 p.m. to the 4900 block of Woodstone Drive, not far from Interstate 10 and Huebner Road after receiving word of a person wounded.

According to police, officers arrived to find the victim shot twice, once in the arm and once in the backside. He was taken to University Hospital, where he is expected to recover.

Police said the teen was simply walking on the sidewalk in front of an apartment complex when a gray sedan pulled up alongside him and started firing.

The victim told officers he did not recognize the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle fled following the shooting and has not been found.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all answered the call.

A motive for the shooting is not currently known.
