Costco is continuing its North Texas expansion this week.
COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — Costco is opening two more stores this week in fast-growing parts of North Texas.
First, the membership-based wholesale retailer is opening at the corner of University Drive and FM 1385 at 5620 W. University Drive in Prosper on Friday, March 14.
Our content partners at the Dallas Business Journal report that construction began on the Prosper store in March of last year.
Then, on Saturday, March 15, Costco is opening another store at 310 Center Point Road in Weatherford.
“Our expansion both nationally and globally is due to the enthusiastic acceptance by our members of our distinctive and unique model of retailing,” said Costco President and CEO Ron Vachris.
Those locations aren’t the only new stores planned for North Texas this year.
The Dallas Business Journal reports that another store is planned for Allen at the southeast corner of Stacy Road and State Highway 121. It’s expected to open this summer.
Costco has 903 warehouses around the world, of which 623 are in the U.S., according to a press release. There are about 40 stores in Texas, of which about 20 are in North Texas, according to their website.
Costco’s membership warehouse club locations offer everything from groceries and home goods to appliances, TV and audio equipment, hardware, furniture and more.
