2 dead, 3 children injured in fatal crash in Van Zandt County

   

An investigation conducted by DPS found a 2014 Ford Focus was travelling north on Hwy 19 when it turned into the northbound lane, striking a 2019 Dodge Journey.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — Two people died Saturday in a fatal crash in Van Zandt County.

Texas DPS said the crash occurred on Hwy 19, south of US 80. An investigation conducted by DPS found a 2014 Ford Focus was travelling north on Hwy 19 when it turned into the southbound lane, striking a 2019 Dodge Journey.

Both drivers were pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford Focus was identified as Karen Carlisle, 63, of Wills Point. The driver of the Dodge Journey was identified as Sara Stoehr, 24, of Larue. Three children were also in the Dodge Journey and reported injured.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional information was provided. CBS19 will update this article as we learn more.
