FORT WORTH, Texas — Two men have been arrested in connection to the theft of a baby Jesus doll from the nativity scene in Sundance Square, according to police.

Fort Worth police said 33-year-old Martin Worden and 39-year-old Juan Meave were arrested and charged with Theft of Property, $100-$750.

The doll that was stolen from a Nativity display at the Sundance Square plaza in Fort Worth was returned by police last week.

The story of the dubbed “Baby Jesus Thief” began earlier this month when Sundance Square officials posted surveillance images on Instagram of a man who appeared to be taking the doll from the display around 2 a.m. on Dec. 17.

The downtown district asked the public for help identifying the alleged thief. Police said they received a report from the district’s security team about the theft.

“Sundance Square has increased security patrols and are happy Baby Jesus has been returned,” police said in a statement last week.

Police did not say how the display piece was found.
