SAN ANTONIO – Two men are facing criminal charges stemming from an overnight brawl in a parking lot on San Antonio’s North Side.
Hollywood Park police originally handled the call, which came in just before 1 a.m. Wednesday.

They say they initially had reports of gunshots coming from the area near Highway 281 just north of Bitters Road.
“There was a large fight in the parking lot and one of the members of the party that was in the fight actually took out a gun and shot in the air several times,” said Chief Shad Pritchard with the Hollywood Park Police Department. “His idea was to break up the fight.”
In response, officers showed up and attempted to take that suspected gunman into custody.
Pritchard says as they began to do that, another man in the group got involved. He also was arrested.
“Whenever he started interfering with the officers and their ability to do an investigation, then that’s when it becomes a crime,” he said.
Feeling outnumbered at one point, the Hollywood Park officers called for backup, Pritchard said.
Police from San Antonio and Hill Country Village, and deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, all showed up to help and get the situation under control.
Video shows one handcuffed man struggling against officers who were attempting to take him into custody.
Eventually, they took him down to the ground.
“It looked like a really big deal with all the police presence,” Pritchard said. “In today’s age with active shooters, we cannot take any chances.”
There were no injuries reported related to the gunfire or the brawl.
