2 women arrested for kidnapping San Antonio girl; AMBER Alert canceled after child found safe

SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE:

Two people were arrested Tuesday in connection with the disappearance of a San Antonio girl.

A 21-year-old woman and a 34-year-old woman were arrested on a charge of kidnapping, the San Antonio Police Department said. Their names were not immediately released.

It’s not known what the relationship of the women was with that of the missing girl, Amarianna Marie Benavidez, 7, who was reported missing on Monday.

An AMBER Alert was issued for Amarianna Marie but was discontinued after she was found around 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Madison Oak Drive.

The girl was reported safe and in good health, SAPD said.

An investigation by SAPD Special Victims Unit is still active.

San Antonio police are searching for a missing 7-year-old girl last seen on the West Side.

Amarianna Marie Benavidez was last spotted in the 5800 block of Northwest Loop 410 around 1 p.m. Monday. She was wearing a pink shirt, purple shorts and no shoes.

The child is described as being 4 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 70 pounds, with wavy midback-length brown hair and brown eyes. She has a scar on her upper-left lip and a lost tooth on the left side of the upper row.
