Police responded to reports of a hit-and-run at about 5:01 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 20.
ARLINGTON, Texas — A 21-year-old woman died after being struck by a truck in a hit-and-run, police said.
Officers responded to reports of a hit-and-run around 5:01 a.m. Sunday in the westbound lanes of I-20 neat Matlock Road, Arlington Police said in a press release.
Officers found a woman lying unresponsive in the roadway and she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Witnesses told investigators that they witnessed a pickup truck driving erratically on I-20 before the crash before eventually driving in the shoulder, police said.
Investigators believe the victim, whose name was not immediately released, pulled over to the shoulder due to car trouble and was standing outside the car when the pickup hit her and her vehicle, according to the statement.
The driver of the pickup did not stop and crossed over the median onto the I-20 frontage road, police said. Officers later found the suspect’s truck abandoned in a nearby shopping center, police said.
Arlington Police Department is working to identify the driver of the pickup and no arrests have been made, police said.
