26-year-old woman killed after getting hit on the side of U.S. 75 in Dallas, police say

 

Police said she was standing on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes of the highway near McCommas Boulevard, waving traffic by as a man changed a flat tire.

DALLAS — A 26-year-old woman died after an SUV hit her along the side of North Central Expressway/U.S. 75 in Dallas on Monday night, police said.

Elizabeth Reyes was identified as the victim, according to a police news release.

Police said Reyes was standing on the left shoulder of the southbound lanes of the highway near McCommas Boulevard, waving traffic by as a man changed a flat tire. An SUV that was heading south in the far left lane hit a retaining wall, and then crashed into Reyes, police said.

Reyes was taken to a hospital, where she died.

The driver of the SUV stopped at the scene and was cooperating with police, officials said. No more details about the crash were released.
