The victim remains in the hospital with serious injuries, Fort Worth police said.
FORT WORTH, Texas — A 29-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection to a road rage shooting that left a man seriously injured this week.
The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) said Curtis Wayne Medrano was taken into custody Wednesday for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
FWPD said officers responded to a shooting call at Interstate 30 and Cooks Lane just before 8:40 a.m. Tuesday.
A Fort Worth lieutenant at the scene told WFAA photojournalist Mike Forbes that a man was shot multiple times while driving in the eastbound lanes. Other officers said that witnesses reported a road rage incident where someone from another vehicle shot at the man.
The victim pulled to the inside shoulder in the eastbound lanes, crawled over the barrier into the westbound lanes, and walked in those lanes to get help. Other drivers stopped to assist him before he was taken to the hospital.
Officials said the victim was in stable condition, but his injuries were serious.
During the investigation, the FWPD Gun Violence Unit contacted the Arlington Police Department who provided video surveillance footage that captured the suspect vehicle, which led to the ID of Medrano as the suspect.
Medrano remains in custody at the Tarrant County Corrections Center.
