AUSTIN (KXAN) — It was a celebration in east Austin on Sunday as hundreds of people gathered for the 2nd annual Eastside Day celebration as well as for Easter.
The event had many events for families who attended, including an Easter egg hunt, music, food and much more.
Antony Jackson, who grew up in east Austin, says while the neighborhood has changed over time, he says it’s important to celebrate.
“Through gentrification a lot of our people have moved out of this area, but Skip (Event organizer) and I realize that we still have a lot of family and friends and community here,” Jackson said.
This is the second year the event was held in Rosewood Neighborhood Park.
“So what our purpose is for these kind of events is to get us all back outside, get us together ,from the kids to the adults and having fun at the parks and neighborhoods we grew up in,” Jackson said.
Last year they hid about 10,000 eggs in the park.
