3 drownings reported in Lewisville Lake within a week, officials say

The body of a 14-year-old boy was recovered Saturday from Lewisville Lake, marking the third drowning death in about a week.

The teen was swimming Saturday afternoon at Copperas Branch Park with his family when he went under and didn’t resurface, according to a city of Highland Village news release. He was found dead about two hours later.

The teen was identified as Sebastian Delgado Hernandez of Dallas, according to medical examiner records.

Two adults also died earlier in the week in different parts of the lake, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

The body of a man was recovered Tuesday morning, according to TPWD. KTVT-TV (Channel 11) reported he was found near Hickory Creek after he fell off a jet ski last Sunday night.

He was identified as 49-year-old Jin Goo Kan, according to medical examiner records.

Then, a 24-year-old man, who hasn’t been publicly identified and was swimming from the shore to the buoys and back in the Little Elm area, died Friday.

At least one other drowning occurred at the lake this month.
