LONGVIEW, Texas — Four families have been displaced from their homes and two dogs are dead after a fire at a Longview apartment complex Thursday morning.

Longview Fire Marshal Kevin May said the fire began around 10:20 a.m. inside one of the upstairs apartment units in the 400 block of South High Street and then spread to two other units on the first floor. May said the two upstairs units had fire and smoke damage, while the downstairs units had water damage.

He confirmed four families are receiving help from the Red Cross after getting displaced from their homes. No one was injured, but two dogs died.

No cause has been determined at this time as the investigation remains ongoing, May said.

Another fire was also reported in Longview at a home in the 2200 block of 15th Street around 8:45 a.m., but no one was at home. The cause of that blaze is also under investigation.
