COPPERAS COVE, Texas (FOX 44) – Two 60-year-old tortoises have been rescued from a Copperas Cove structure fire.
The Copperas Cove fire and police departments responded to the fire at approximately 8:53 a.m. Friday. Firefighters arrived and found an outbuilding in the back of the residence on fire.
One of the firefighters was able to help evacuate two 60-year-old pet tortoises from the building, while other firefighters at the scene started to extinguish the fire.
The tortoises were checked out by an animal control officer, who said they were both in good condition.
The fire department responded with six units, for a total of 12 personnel. The fire was out at approximately 9:02 a.m.
