67-year-old man dead after two-car collision in North Texas

 

The accident occurred after the driver of an F-250 truck lost control and crossed the median.

AZLE, Texas — A 67-year-old man died after a two-car crash in North Texas on Saturday night, police said.

According to the Azle Police Department, a Ford F-250 carrying four passengers was driving east on State Highway 199 when the driver lost control, crossing over the median and crashing into a Toyota Tacoma, which was carrying two passengers, traveling west near Commerce Street.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma, identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 67-year-old Jaime Ruiz, was trapped inside the truck and later pronounced dead by medics, APD said. Police said the passenger of the Tacoma was able to be safely removed from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-250 stayed on the scene and cooperated with officers, including conducting a field sobriety test, the department said.

Azle PD stated that the accident is currently under investigation.
