$7.5M in grants awarded to several Texas veterans’ assistance organizations

  

AUSTIN (KXAN) — More than $7.5 million in Veterans’ Assistance grants were recently awarded to several organizations in the Alamo and Hill Country areas, according to the Texas Office of the Governor.

Gov. Greg Abbott said the funding was expected to provide services to more than 7,200 veterans and their families across 35 counties.

“Texas is proud to be home to the largest veteran population in the nation, and we will continue to ensure we support our veterans and their families,” Abbott said.

Grant recipients include:

  • Alamo Area Council of Governments
  • American GI Forum National Veterans Outreach Program
  • Bandera County Committee on Aging
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas
  • Catholic Charities Archdiocese of San Antonio
  • Comal County
  • Community Council of South Central Texas, Inc.
  • Concho Valley Center for Human Advancement
  • Concho Valley Community Action Agency
  • Family Endeavors, Inc. dba Endeavors:
  • Guadalupe County Veterans Treatment Court
  • K9s for Warriors
  • Honor Veterans Now
  • Meals on Wheels San Antonio
  • Operation Finally Home
  • Project Mend
  • San Antonio Food Bank
  • TBI Warrior Foundation
  • The Salvation Army – San Antonio
  • Val Verde County Veteran Service Office
  • West Texas Counseling & Guidance, Inc.

“The grants support a wide range of services, from emergency financial assistance to transportation, legal services to family support services, and home modification to rental and mortgage assistance,” the governor’s office said.
