When Elon Musk recently requested the GOP should stay out of people’s bedrooms, he glossed over a very real phenomenon he apparently thinks only happens with the support of one side of the political aisle. But if he’s truly interested in getting the government out of people’s bedrooms, he’ll have to broaden his condemnation. Because Democrats and progressives are very much in people’s bedrooms. So much so, in fact, that an argument could be made that part of why the transgender debate seems to be everywhere now is because the left has funded it to ensure it’s relentlessly culturally pervasive.
Look no further than Boston Children’s Hospital, which has become the face of the transgender youth movement, and not in a good way. It’s no mystery why people are horrified by what’s been going on in these hallowed, Harvard-adjacecnt halls. A look at some of their videos selling “gender affirming” surgery make the hairs on the back of the neck stand up, especially when considering the mutilation involved in using forearm flesh to create fake phalluses for young girls.
The grim reality of what Boston Children’s Hospital been doing (read: disfiguring young people in the name of gender equity) is only overshadowed by the strange hubris of announcing it as “gender affirming”.
But the term is not their own. The descriptor “gender affirming” is one with a foothold in progressive politics. If you’ve not heard of the Pritzker family — “who helped put Barack Obama in the White House and include among their number former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, current Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and philanthropist Jennifer Pritzker [a transgender woman],” writes Tablet Magazine — then you’re missing much of the story of how America came to grapple with gender equity on an unprecedented scale.
[The Pritzker family] appear to have used a family philanthropic apparatus to drive an ideology and practice of disembodiment into our medical, legal, cultural, and educational institutions.
The creation and normalization of SSI [synthetic sex identities] speaks much more directly to what is happening in American culture, and elsewhere, under an umbrella of human rights. With the introduction of SSI, the current incarnation of the LGBTQ+ network–as distinct from the prior movement that fought for equal rights for gay and lesbian Americans, and which ended in 2020 with Bostock v. Clayton County, finding that LGBTQ+ is a protected class for discrimination purposes–is working closely with the techno-medical complex, big banks, international law firms, pharma giants, and corporate power to solidify the idea that humans are not a sexually dimorphic species–which contradicts reality and the fundamental premises not only of “traditional” religions but of the gay and lesbian civil rights movements and much of the feminist movement, for which sexual dimorphism and resulting gender differences are foundational premises.
Through investments in the techno-medical complex, where new highly medicalized sex identities are being conjured, Pritzkers and other elite donors are attempting to normalize the idea that human reproductive sex exists on a spectrum. These investments go toward creating new SSI using surgeries and drugs, and by instituting rapid language reforms to prop up these new identities and induce institutions and individuals to normalize them. In 2018, for example, at the Ronald Reagan Medical Center at the University of California Los Angeles (where the Pritzkers are major donors and hold various titles), the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology advertised several options for young females who think they can be men to have their reproductive organs removed, a procedure termed “gender-affirming care.”
The Pritzkers have a lot of money to throw at their pet projects. A lot.
Eager health care facilities like Boston Children’s find funding not only from generous philanthropists, but also directly from government. The federal National Institutes of Health (NIH) has directly funded transgender programs at the hospital via something called “transformative research,” at least according to a 2021 press release that has disappeared from Boston Children’s website (but the internet lives forever so the cached version is here).
It would appear the goal, along with helping “gender-diverse children, teens, and young adults” gain access to “life-changing” gender-affirming care, is to help Southeastern states up their transgender care game by increasing the number of transgender health experts in the region and providing “trans youth and their caregivers” (notably the word “parent” is not used) with support through something called “in-depth programming”.
And they’re dedicated to their training and programming regime.
Education and community also play important roles in the second aspect of the project. “When kids come out to their family, they can face a lot of questioning, even from supportive parents,” says Boskey. “We hope to create a digital platform that will allow gender-diverse youth and their caregivers a feeling of community and support.”
Both aspects of the project will rely heavily on educational simulations, to be created in collaboration with Boston Children’s Simulator Program. These include culturally sensitive simulation-based immersive videos — featuring gender-diverse Black and Latinx actors — that are tailored to patients’ unique needs. Educational simulations geared toward youth and caregivers will help to strengthen their communication and mutual insight, while simulations for providers will equip them with the language, knowledge, and skills to provide gender-affirming care. The team plans to assess the effectiveness of the platform in a randomized controlled trial.
“We are so thankful for this opportunity,” says Estrada, who will serve as the study’s corresponding principal investigator. “We have assembled a team of passionate and committed experts and we expect our projects to make a very significant impact.”
If Americans really want to keep politics out of the bedroom — or the bedroom out of politics — they’re going to have to get right with the fact that much of the funding to keep sex out in front is coming from the left.
