As we see more citizens “embrace” socialism and communism, it is important for those citizens to listen to the experiences of folks who have fled from communist regimes such as the Soviet Union, Cuba, China, and Venezuela. Whether it’s due to what they hear from professors in classrooms or politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and other far-left politicians pushing their delusional agendas, more and more young people are starting to think that socialism and communism are the way forward, that those systems work, and that capitalism is “evil.”
Xi Van Fleet is a survivor of Mao Zedong’s communist revolution in China. She gave a stark warning to the American people on “Fox & Friends Weekend”:
“I just want to say it’s so ironic. 36 years ago, I run away from socialism when I left China to come to this great country for freedom. Today, so many Americans [are] abandoning freedom and arriving into socialism. They have no idea what socialism is about. I lived under Mao’s socialism. When the government controls everything and makes all the decisions big and small and decide how much grain, meat [and] cooking oil I could have. What I should learn in school, where I should live, and what job I should have and how I should think. In the socialist society I lived under, there was no choices. There is no freedom. And that’s what people do not know. Socialism becomes such a diluted word and it’s intentional. I can tell you, China is a socialist country. Cuba is a socialist country and so is North Korea. They are a socialist country run by communist parties. And what’s the difference? What’s the difference between socialism and communism? Not much. Socialism is the initial stage of communism, according to Karl Marx.”
Capitalism is a major driver of the success and prosperity of the United States of America. If people don’t push back on the delusional rhetoric about socialism and communism with the slew of historical facts demonstrating how those systems have failed repeatedly, young people will continue to believe (wrongly) that they are the way forward. Of course, not every young person is a socialist or communist, but, having graduated college in 2021, I can attest that the professors do their best to indoctrinate on these matters, especially in political science classes.
PragerU has done multiple videos explaining the difference between socialism and communism vs. capitalism. As mentioned earlier, there is a slew of historical evidence denouncing the talking point that socialism and communism are good and capitalism is “evil.” CrashCourse‘s John Green also did a capitalism vs. socialism comparison. So there are a lot of videos, a lot of books, and even articles covering this topic. RedState has extensively covered this topic. I previously reported about a Venezuelan immigrant giving his personal view about the dangers of socialism and the warning he had Americans.
It is vitally important to educate voters about the dangers of socialism and communism and why capitalism is the only economic system that will provide opportunity and wealth through hard work for all Americans.
