If you haven’t yet heard new Italian leader Giorgia Meloni’s pro-family speech, YouTube may not be the best place to get an earful.
Giorgia recently became the first female prime minister in the country’s history, which might’ve been viewed favorably by the Left. However, she doesn’t share their views; hence, they won’t call it a win.
In fact, legacy media have essentially characterized the lady as evil.
From CBS News:
It’s a stunning victory for Giorgia Meloni and her Brothers of Italy Party — stunning because it was just a fringe party until a few short years ago, and stunning because of Italy’s disastrous history the last time a hard-Right party came into power. … She’s here to put traditional Italians first.
[The party’s] opponents say [its] hard-Right politics could take the country back to a very dark past. … A hundred years ago, Mussolini marching on Rome, plunging the country into two decades of dictatorship, an alliance with Hitler, and a second World War. Today, the Fascist Party is gone. But many say these are their political heirs… Once on the fringes, [the Brothers of Italy] ballooned into the biggest party in the country. Now their leader…is poised to head the most hard-Right government since Il Duce.
CBS notes that Giorgia doesn’t support adoption or surrogacy for same-sex couples.
And evidently, if someone hasn’t previously served as the head of a country, they could be Hitler. No matter what they claim to believe, you can’t say they aren’t.

[T]his is the…balcony where Mussolini would make…fiery speeches. Those are images Giorgia Meloni says have nothing to do with her party today. But since she’s never governed the country before, her opponents fear that history could be repeating itself.
Meanwhile, a viral video from 2019 shows Giorgia speaking about her values. Search for wickedness within these words:
“This is about what we are doing here today. Why is the family an enemy? Why is the family so frightening? There is a single answer to all these questions: Because it defines us. Because it is our identity. Because everything that defines us is now an enemy for those who would like us to no longer have an identity and to simply be perfect consumer slaves. And so they attack national identity, they attack religious identity, they attack gender identity, they attack family identity. I can’t define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother. No — I must be ‘Citizen X,’ ‘Gender X,’ ‘Parent One,’ ‘Parent Two.’ I must be a number. Because when I am only a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect slave at the mercy of financial speculators. The perfect consumer. … That’s why we inspire so much fear. Because we do not want to be numbers. We will defend the value of the human being. Every single human being. Because each of us has a unique genetic code that is unrepeatable. And like it or not, that is sacred. We will defend it. We will defend God, country, and family — those things that disgust people so much. We will do it to defend our freedom because we will never be slaves and simple consumers at the mercy of financial speculators. That’s our mission. That is why I came here today.”
She even quoted Christian theologian G.K. Chesterton:
“Chesterton wrote, more than a century ago…’Fires will be kindled to testify that two and two make four. Swords will be drawn to prove that leaves are green in summer.’ That time has arrived. We are ready.”
Evidently, YouTube found the video unacceptable. Therefore, it removed it.
National Review reports:
YouTube appears to have removed a version of a 2019 speech delivered by incoming Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that focused on the ongoing leftist assaults on the family unit, God, and national identity.
As of Wednesday, the platform scrubbed the video, leaving a notice: “This video has been removed for violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.” However, other copies of the video of Meloni’s address at the World Congress of Families in Verona remain on the site. …
The video went viral after Meloni’s Monday victory at the head of a right-wing coalition that captured 44 percent of the Italian electorate.
Youtube has maintained that it can restrict videos that feature “spam and deceptive practices,” “sensitive” material such as nudity, suicide, or vulgar language, “violent or dangerous content” such as “hate speech” or “harassment,” “regulated goods” such as firearms, and misinformation relating to elections, COVID-19, vaccines, etc. The company did not specify which rule Meloni’s speech broke.
Will we ever know why the video was 86’d? It isn’t likely; tech platforms don’t seem entirely interested in explaining their muzzling moves. That aside, to all you fans of family identity: Try not to be Hitler or Mussolini.
