There was a time when New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could do no wrong. In fact, so heavy was her influence that her fellow Democrat politicians were too afraid to oppose her openly. Some were even doing their best to mimic her with embarrassing results.
We will forever remember Sen. Elizabeth Warren going to get a beer, but I digress.
AOC’s time as the left’s favorite politician has now clearly come and gone as her own town halls now contain less than enthusiastic attendees. In fact, they seem to include people who are very, very angry with her.
The town hall was hosted at Bronxdale High School and it seemed the former bartender was expecting something of a friendly crowd, but as she quickly found out, some of the people there were more than a little upset with her, specifically her support for the war in Ukraine.
In one video, you can see citizens protesting her support for the money the Democrat Party has been funneling into Ukraine, accusing her of supporting a war that brings us closer and closer to a nuclear apocalypse. They seemed a lot more impressed with former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, who recently left the party, partly over their warmongering.
“Tulsi Gabbard, she’s left the Democratic Party because they are war hawks,” one man shouted. “You ran as an outsider, yet you’ve been voting to start this war in Ukraine.”
“Why are you playing with the lives of American citizens?” he continued. “You’re playing with our lives!”
The first man seemed to have people gather around him to try to stop his anti-AOC display but a second person joined in.
“You voted to mobilize and send money to Ukrainian Nazis!” said the other man. “You’re a coward!”
These accusations were greeted with applause from the crowd.
The two men were later identified via Twitter. Jose Vega and a man going by “Noggatone” took credit for the open protest against AOC. Vega asked in a tweet if AOC will stand up for peace like Gabbard.
Funny enough, despite Gabbard having left the Democrat Party, she still continues to haunt many of its members, be it vice-President Kamala Harris or AOC.
Gabbard’s influence on the Democrat Party aside, a few things are worth noting here. For one, people are openly defying AOC in public, which would have been a dangerous affair just a few short years ago. Putting AOC in the hot seat might have gotten you canceled, but now it’s happening in public with people openly bragging about it.
Moreover, it’s worth noting that an event with AOC would have brought in a ton of people. She was, after all, something of a celebrity. Yet, this video only shows a smattering of people attending her town hall.
AOC’s star has clearly fallen a long distance and in a short time no less.
