SAPD: Woman arrested for DWI after drivers crash into home, tree

SAN ANTONIO – Several people are in the hospital, one person was arrested for DWI and one family’s home on the North Side has extensive damage after a car crashed into it overnight, according to San Antonio police.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Clear Lake Drive.

Police said one driver crashed into a home while another crashed into a tree.

SAPD said no one was home when the crash happened, and the San Antonio Fire Department was able to secure the house, preventing it from collapsing.

Next door neighbor Martha Hern?ndez woke up to the sounds of the crash around 1 a.m.

“We heard a big boom. My parents’ bedroom are right next to it, 10 feet from where the accident happened. And we were very scared,” Hern?ndez said.

The female driver that crashed into the home was arrested for DWI. The passenger was not injured, according to police.

Though there were no injuries, damages to the home after the crash were extensive.

“It went all the way to the alley, pushing all the furniture and things out. It almost hit the house across the alley,” Hern?ndez said.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle that hit the tree were both taken to an area hospital in serious condition, said SAPD.

Hern?ndez said she would like to see more safety measures like speed bumps and flashing lights. To request speed bumps, you can call 311.
