SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs on Thursday unveiled the third and final Fiesta-themed Spurs City Edition uniforms that will be worn during the 2022-2023 NBA season.
The uniforms will feature retro accents along the arm trim and the jersey and shorts and are a turquoise color, inspired by the 1996 NBA All-Star Game which was played in San Antonio back in 1996 at the Alamodome.
The Spurs intend to wear the jerseys on Friday, Nov. 11 when they host the Milwaukee Bucks. The Spurs City Edition uniform and court design will then be featured during all 10 Fiesta-themed home games, including the game played against Golden State on Jan. 13 at the Alamodome.
The organization said in a press release that the city edition uniforms debuted in 2020 after fans mobilized on social media, asking to bring back the iconic colors from the team’s trademark game warmups from 1989 to 1997.
The 2022-2023 NBA season is the team’s 50th in San Antonio and they are having a season-long celebration commemorating the franchise’s move to the Alamo City.
The franchise is hosting special nights to honor each of the five championship Spurs teams, and will also host an origins night to honor former greats like Hall-of-Famer George Gervin. The Spurs will also play home games in Austin and Mexico City, a move the team says is to expand the team’s brand and organization’s reach.
T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets, jerseys and caps featuring the Fiesta theme can be found at SpursFanShop.com.
