ABA Hispanic Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities to host third annual Cinco de Música

The American Bar Association Hispanic Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities will host the third annual Cinco de Música, a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of and support for the ABA Hispanic Commission, at 5:30 p.m. May 4.

Chaired by Texas Access to Justice Foundation Executive Director Betty Balli Torres, this free virtual event features music and spoken word and will include several prominent performers.

Emilio Estefan, 19-time Grammy Award winner, will present a welcoming message. Additionally, American Bar Association President Deborah Enix-Ross, President-elect Mary L. Smith, and Past ABA President Steven N. Zack will be in attendance.

Texas attorney Armando X. Lopez, who will give a spoken word performance, has been a practicing attorney in Laredo for 40 years. He has also held various leadership roles including past president of Leadership Laredo and serving on the Laredo Bar Association and the Laredo Independent School District Board of Trustees. Pricilla Mora Garcia, a first-generation law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, will be the first law student to ever perform during Cinco de Música. Garcia’s grandmother taught her mariachi at the age of six, and she has been singing in choirs since third grade.

Other performers include Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes; Judge Peter M. Reyes Jr., of Minnesota’s Court of Appeals; Andrea Mejia, of Sapentia Law Group; Ashley Alvarez, committee director and legislative counsel for the City of Chicago Committee on Economic, Capital, and Technology Development; Ignacio Sanz Perez, of Steven C. Thal; and singer-songwriter Jordana Talsky.
