WATCH: ‘The View’ Crazy Train Runs off the Rails, Behar Says Trump Could Be ‘Hung’ Like Italian Dictator Mussolini

You ever get the feeling that Stage-4 Trump Derangement Syndrome sufferers sometimes grow bored with continually comparing former President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, and Mao Zedong ad nauseam, so they dig up another of history’s nastiest characters just to switch things up a bit?

Yeah, me too.

This brings us to ABC’s always sneering, generally racist, mind-blowingly hypocritical TV hit, “The View.”

On Wednesday, “The View” Crazy Train hurtled down the tracks, with the Trump-loathing co-hosts trotting out WW II Italy’s Fascist Dictator Benito Mussolini and declaring that Republicans yearn to live under a Mussolini-like dictatorship. The charming ladies argued — with straight faces, mind you — that even Trump’s pledge to rein in the Environment Protection Agency is tantamount to the actions of the late dictator, and warned that the former president could end up like Mussolini — “hung … upside down in a square.”

How clever.

Anyway, the segment began with a clip of Donald Trump‘s Tuesday town hall interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity in which the former president said he received a letter indicating he’s the target of a criminal investigation by a grand jury investigating his alleged attempts to interfere with the peaceful transfer of power after the 2020 election. Here’s Trump:

It bothers me for everybody in this incredible sold out audience and it bothers you. I got the letter on Sunday night, think of it. I don’t think they’ve ever sent a letter on Sunday night. And they’re in a rush because they want to interfere — it’s interference with the election. It’s election interference, never been done like this in the history of our country and it’s a disgrace.

Welp, that was all “The View” geniuses needed to launch into a diatribe about Trump’s fascist ways. Joy Behar — nostrils flared — even got extra cranky about Trump’s use of the term “country.”

Does anybody else get nauseous when he says the word “country?” The word “country.” Every time he says it, I feel nauseous. […] because I don’t think he cares one iota about the country. So every time he says it – It rings true that he’s a traitor.

Whoopi Goldberg took the opportunity to take a shot at Florida governor and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Ron DeSantis, as well.

What’s interesting about very many of these people who you’ve sort of talked about not even saying or admitting that anything wrong was done, it’s because they want to do the same thing. DeSantis wants the same kind of country. He believes — I believe that he wants to also be a dictator.

I believe many of these folks who are defending this think this is an interesting prospect. I have to tell you, I’m — I never thought in my lifetime that I would see this country come as close to dictatorship as I’ve seen.

I find it both amusing and troublesome that the day-in, day-out bilge spewed on “The View” can maintain a sufficient number of viewers to remain on TV. Then again, as is the case with potentially destructive political figures, it’s less about the politicians themselves and more about the legions of loyalists at their command.

Token (sometimes) Republican Alyssa Farah Griffin also hopped on the bandwagon, first declaring her (faux) conservative credentials — just to smear Trump.

What’s so crazy to me about this whole scenario is Donald Trump, there’s this big piece in The New York Times. We talked about it briefly yesterday. Donald Trump’s team around him [is] now on the record saying his plans for a second term are to grow the executive branch and the powers of the presidency. … to eliminate checks and balances and the coequal branches of government.

I’m a conservative and been a conservative longer than Donald Trump has. That ain’t conservative. That is growing the federal government and the power of one man. … It’s inching toward dictatorship. Exactly.

After more of the same, Sunny Hostin played the Mussolini card:

Now we’re going back but Mussolini had that same thought that he was going to take away these sort of individual agencies and place them under his power and he was quite successful doing that.

Behar was all over it:

But do you know what the Italians did to Mussolini, they hung him upside down in a square in Milan, and his girlfriend.

And finally, Hostin approvingly beamed: “That they did.”

Stage 4 TDS indeed. Did I mention that the audience cheered wildly throughout the segment?

The Bottom Line

As I wrap this one up, and I speak for myself only, I’m often asked by commenters why I waste time covering — or providing a platform, as it were — to the geniuses of “The View” or other such nonsense. Easy answer: I’m still a member of the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies.

As Rush believed, the more we allow leftists to talk, the more they tell us exactly who they are. For that reason, El Rushbo gleefully exposed and amplified the left’s narrative at every opportunity. What was good enough for Rush is certainly good enough for me.
