As RedState previously reported, President Joe Biden erupted Wednesday after Fox News reporter Peter Doocy cornered him over the allegations from former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer about how, among other things, Joe Biden was allegedly put on speakerphone during at least two dozen business calls during his time as Vice President.
For those who missed the moment, here’s how it went down:
“There’s this testimony now where one of your son’s former business associates is claiming that you were on speakerphone a lot with them talking business. What-” Doocy started.
Biden responded, “I never talked business with anybody, and I knew you’d have a lousy question.”
“What – why is that a lousy question?” Doocy continued.
“Because it’s not true,” the president insisted before walking away from the reporter.
Watch:
Putting to the side the Biden White House’s heated denials and usual avoidance of probing questions related to his embattled son’s overseas business dealings – and his own alleged involvement – Biden’s treatment of Doocy brought to mind remarks made Sunday by First Lady Jill Biden’s former press secretary Michael LaRosa.
During an exchange with Fox News “Media Buzz” host Howard Kurtz, LaRosa, who was also a special assistant to President Biden, was asked what the deal was with Biden’s infamous press avoidance strategy and why Biden felt one needed to be put in place to begin with. LaRosa point-blank admitted that Biden and his team “treat the press as a threat” and “live in a bunker mentality” (bolded emphasis added):
Kurtz: But in general, I’m always just so taken by the fact that the current President of the United States operates in such a low key manner. We don’t hear from him on weekends. He often has statements put out where you could go in front of the cameras. What’s up with that?
LaRosa: Look, I do… I think it’s a problem. I think they live in a bunker mentality often, they treat the press as a threat, as a hazard and not as an opportunity and President Trump uses it the opposite way, and that’s beneficial to him.
Watch:
While that’s certainly been obvious since day one despite Joe Biden’s numerous campaign promises about how he would supposedly “restore” respect in the White House for the freedom of the press, LaRosa admitting the quiet part out loud even as he clearly remains loyal to the Bidens was quite the admission.
As for Biden and Doocy, this isn’t the first time Biden has lashed out at the scrappy Fox News White House correspondent. The POTUS infamously called Doocy a “stupid son of a b*tch” in January 2022 in response to a question Doocy asked about inflation. Doocy, of course, confirmed himself to be the better person in the aftermath, quipping about how “nobody has fact-checked [Biden] yet and said it’s not true.”
While I’m fairly certain that most people would agree that that is in fact not true about Doocy, I don’t think it’s likely that the same could – or would – be credibly said of Joe Biden, and we’ll leave it at that.
