Upper 90s and triple-digit heat are back in the forecast starting next week — And it may last a while.

We’re entering what is typically the hottest time of the year, but thankfully Mother Nature has other plans!
Quick Notes:
- Low rain chances through the weekend
- Typical summer heat will return next week
- Several triple-digit days in the forecast
Low weekend rain chances
This weekend will be dry for most of North Texas. Could there be an isolated shower or storm out there? Sure. The better chance for any rain will be east of the metroplex. No severe weather or long periods of rain are expected. So do not cancel any plans.
Here comes real summer…
Soak in the “milder” temperatures while you can! This weekend will be the end of it for quite some time. Highs return much closer to normal and even above normal next week. We may even see a stretch of triple-digit heat. It was all nice while it lasted!
Saharan Dust?
Saharan dust returns next week. It is very typical this time of the year. Strong storms over the Saharan Desert haul dust into the atmosphere and it gets picked up by the trade winds. Those winds carry dust across the Atlantic and sometimes make it into Texas! A couple of rounds are expected in the next week. A small, mild plume looks to arrive Friday before it thins out over the weekend. A bigger, more dense plume currently over the Caribbean arrives late Tuesday into Wednesday.
