Former Pflugerville PD detective charged with tampering with government records

   

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas — The Pflugerville Police Department said a former detective was arrested and charged with tampering with government records after deleting hundreds of filed without permission.

Court records reveal Tara Schafer, 35, deleted files that were associated with her husband Tyler, who was fired from the Pflugerville Police Department in June.

She told police that on June 11 she accessed her husband’s “G” Drive folder and copied them to a personal hard drive. She also said that after being notified by the department’s Internal Affairs’ of the pending investigation, she deleted all the files from her drive.

Tampering with government records without authorization is a third-degree felony.
