BCSO seeks help finding who shot, killed 17-year-old boy at house party

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is requesting help from the public to find out who shot and killed a teenager during a house party over the weekend.

The shooting happened around 1 a.m. on Sunday in the 3900 block of Rock Mill Dam in west Bexar County.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, deputies responded to the house after receiving a 911 call for around 20 gunshots heard in the area.

Upon arrival, partygoers were scattering from the home. Landyn Reyes, 17, was found dead in the backyard of the house with a gunshot wound, according to BCSO. Salazar said Reyes would have turned 18 in the next couple of weeks.

Although Reyes was named as the victim by BCSO, the Bexar County Medical Examiner has not yet identified him.

BCSO does not currently have information on who the shooter could have been since at least 100 people attended the party.

During a press conference on Monday, Salazar showed a video of a similar party on the same night. Many partygoers were waving various high-caliber firearms while dancing, and one female was seen dancing on top of a table.

“I have heard of some video in association with this case and it is dramatic. There is a bunch of gunfire going on. I’m surprised more people weren’t hit,” said Salazar.

Salazar said these teenagers break into vacant homes under construction and throw parties that are planned through social media.

A woman named Cathrine Morales, who lives near the vacant home, says there are even more houses under construction in the area.

“It makes me want to pressure the Homeowners Association and Lennar even more to crack down on security because they still have so many more houses to build here,” said Morales.

The vacant houses these teenagers break into are usually ready to sell, with utilities already set up and ready, Salazar said.

If you have information about the incident, please call BCSO at 210-335-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 210-224-STOP.
