On the heels of the BBQ at the Big House, there’s quite a bit of Michigan Wolverines recruiting news to get to, with recruits speaking highly after visiting last weekend.
In this edition of the roundup, we’ll dive into a four-star cornerback expected to announce his commitment this weekend, a 2026 commit recapping his time in Ann Arbor, and a top-200 defensive prospect giving his visit reaction as well.
Four-star CB target set to commit this week
We often see commitments after large summer recruiting events like the BBQ at the Big House, and the Wolverines may be landing a solid cornerback this weekend. Jayden Sanders, a 2025 four-star cornerback who was among the dozens of players recently at the event, is set to announce his commitment this Saturday.
The Kilgore, Texas native told On3’s Steve Wiltfong ($) he’s between Baylor, Michigan and Oklahoma State. Sanders has visited Michigan twice this summer, and if he comes to Ann Arbor, he’d be the third defensive back to commit in the class, joining four-stars Ivan Taylor and Kainoa Winston.
“Michigan keeps developing NFL corners with their defensive scheme and even with the coaching and staff changes, I fit the athletic profile of their corners,” Sanders said. “They’ve proven their DB development works.”
On the 247Sports composite, Sanders ranks just outside the top-300 in his class, along with 30th among cornerbacks and 49th among players from Texas. There are no Crystal Balls logged for Sanders, but The Wolverine’s EJ Holland did put in a prediction a few weeks ago for Sanders to commit to Michigan.
Baylor has the home state advantage and Oklahoma State was the first school to offer Sanders, so his recruitment could go a number of ways. We’ll be following the final days of h is recruitment before this weekend.
Four-star QB commit talks building ‘really special’ 2026 class
While the majority of Michigan’s recruiting focus has been on the 2025 class, it mainly hosted 2026 recruits at the BBQ, including quarterback commit Brady Hart.
Hart — who committed earlier this summer and is the lone offensive commit in the class — is hoping to continue Michigan’s winning ways with his class of recruits.
“It was a really fun time,” Hart told The Wolverine’s Holland ($). “We had so many elite players on one field running some routes and spending time together for the BBQ. We played some games and beat up on each other on EA. It was awesome. The 2026 class is going to be really special. I’m excited to see what guys jump onboard.”
Rankings for classes that are years in advance are subject to a lot of change, but at this moment, Hart is a top-100 player in the 2026 class on the 247Sports composite, ranking as the seventh-best passer. However, considering he is ranked as high as he is and is already committed, Hart was utilized as a recruiting tool that weekend.
“I worked on everybody,” Hart said. “Andrew Marsh is a stud 2025 wide receiver. Jaylen Pile, Jerome Myles, Savion (Hiter) and a bunch of offensive lineman like the kid from Providence Day (Leo Delaney). I talked to them a bunch. I was just being myself and showed them why I chose Michigan and what it has to offer.”
Hart plans to visit the Big House for at least one game this season, and perhaps he can convince some fellow 2026 commits to come with him.
Four-star edge high on Michigan after getting offered
High school players came from all across the country for the BBQ at the Big House, and one of the players that traveled the farthest for it was Shaun Scott, a four-star edge who came all the way from Santa Ana, California.
Scott, who is ranked 173rd in his class on the 247Sports composite, got to participate in a workout led by new defensive line coach Lou Esposito.
“He’s a great coach,” Scott told The Wolverine’s Zach Libby ($). “He’s going to definitely push me to be the best player I could be, for sure. He expects a lot out of me. I could fit in their defense very well. I could pass rush well, drop well. So, he just loves my overall game, for sure.”
One of the best recruiting tools Michigan has when it comes to pass rushers is their track record for developing great players in the trenches, with Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant likely to be huge contributors this season.
“Great production. It’s a great production rate,” Scott said. “They pride themselves on that. Aidan Hutchinson, the guys they have now are both probably going to be first-rounders. They’re both really talented. That’s a really big factor.”
Scott wants to take in the fall atmosphere at the Big House and is hoping to get back for the Texas game next month.
“I was interested before I came up there. Now, it’s just totally different, for sure,” Scott said. “I loved it up there. I love everything about the coaching staff.”
- Anthony Jones, a top-250 edge in the 2026 class, recently included Michigan in his top-nine. Michigan is one of five Big Ten schools listed for the Irvine, California native, with the others being Ohio State, Penn State, UCLA and Washington.
- Defensive line coach Lou Esposito offered 2026 four-star edge Zach Groves earlier this week, Groves announced on social media. The top-200 prospect has other offers from Tennessee, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and more.
- Tony Alford also sent out an offer earlier this week, extending a scholarship to 2026 four-star running back Raycine Guillory. The Texas native has offers from the best of the best, including Ohio State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon and more.
