Unearthed Video Shows Tim Walz Had Close Relationship With Hitler-Promoting Muslim Cleric

Tim Walz is facing new questions after an unearthed video confirmed his close relationship with a radical Muslim cleric who expressed an affinity for Adolf Hitler.

Since being announced as Kamala Harris’ running mate, Walz has been inundated with scandals involving his background. That more recently centered on a stolen valor controversy in which Walz repeatedly claimed or insinuated he fought in a war zone. He also spent the better part of the last two decades claiming to be a retired Command Sergeant Major. In reality, he held the rank provisionally for a few months before being demoted after he skipped out on deploying with his unit to Iraq.

On a different front, RedState also previously reported that Walz was connected to a radical Muslim cleric named Asad Zaman.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, on at least five occasions as governor of Minnesota, hosted a Muslim cleric who celebrated Hamas ‘s Oct. 7 attack last year on Israel and promoted a film popular among Neo-Nazis that glorifies Adolf Hitler, the Washington Examiner found.

The imam, Asad Zaman of the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, joined other Muslim leaders in May 2023 for a meeting about mosque security with Walz’s gubernatorial office in Minnesota. Zaman also spoke at a May 2020 event to call for peaceful protests with the governor during the riots in Minnesota sparked after George Floyd’s death. In April 2019, the cleric delivered an invocation before Walz’s state address — just months after Zaman called for an end to a government shutdown at a press conference with Walz in January 2019.

Zaman, moreover, attended a May 2019 event that Walz hosted for Ramadan, social media posts show.

According to Gabe Kaminsky of the Washington Examiner, the Harris campaign responded by denying any personal relationship between Walz and Zaman. A newly-surfaced video of one of their events together paints a very different picture, though.

WALZ: I would, first of all, say thank you to imam. Am I a teacher so when I see a master teacher, I know it, and over the time we’ve spent together, one of the things, one of the things I’ve had the privilege of is seeing things in life through the eyes of a master teacher to try to get the understanding.

Are we supposed to believe that they had no personal relationship but Walz was so close to Zaman that he saw “things in life through” the radical Muslim’s eyes and was able to tell he was a “master teacher” worthy of learning from? That doesn’t begin to pass muster. Walz didn’t just know Zaman in passing given the propensity of their public appearances together and the governor’s glowing statements. Further, it has been revealed that Walz’s administration steered $100,000 in funding to Zaman’s organization.

At some point, these aren’t “mistakes” and that point was passed long ago. These are examples of Walz continuing to purposefully mislead about his past. From his military career to his political career, the governor has embellished or covered up his record for political expediency. The Harris campaign can deny and the mainstream press can obfuscate, but the truth is coming out. You can bet JD Vance is taking notes for the debate as well.
