Texas A&M completed its 10th fall practice this month. This is officially the last week for the Aggies to prepare in front of the local media before embarking on head coach Mike Elko’s inaugural 2024 season, taking on Notre Dame in prime time to kick off what should be an exciting campaign after six years under former head coach Jimbo Fisher.
As I’ve stated throughout the offseason, Elko inherited a roster that could have the Aggies contending for a playoff spot as soon as this year, as redshirt sophomore quarterback Conner Weigman’s preseason hype is well-deserved from a talent perspective. However, after missing the final eight games of the 2023 regular season, he still has plenty to prove on the field.
Through the transfer portal, Elko helped land nearly 30 players, including former Kansas offensive lineman Ar’maj Reed-Adams and former Fresno State tight end Tre Watson, who, along with sophomore safety Dalton Brooks, spoke to the local media after A&M’s Monday practice to discuss how far along the team truly is ahead of the season opener.
