Hurricane Ernesto in the Atlantic
FORECAST:
The ‘heat high’ remains the primary influence over Texas and won’t move until at least late next week. That means more triple digit days, which right now sits at 18 for the year.
Expect a high near 100° (again) Wednesday afternoon, with a heat index near 105° and plenty of sunshine.
Sunshine will continue to dominate our sky which means no notable rain chances in the forecast.
So, when will it cool down? That will hinge on when we can get our first, good front through. We see no signs of any significant fronts yet. Climatologically speaking, August is our hottest time of year, but the average high starts dropping by August 17th.

A quick update on Ernesto:
As of late Wednesday morning, the storm has now intensified into a hurricane just north of Puerto Rico. The system is expected to turn north, likely strengthening as it churns over the western Atlantic and approaches Bermuda this weekend. It is not expected to impact the United States – other than the current rainfall over Puerto Rico and bigger waves at east coast beaches. We’ll keep you posted!
