DALLAS — For much of North Texas, school is back in session, but that doesn’t mean fun summer events stopped happening in North Texas.
This weekend offers a little for everyone, from classic cinema to pro wrestling, and something to help celebrate the start of the new school year.
Friday, Aug. 16
You’re probably familiar with The Godfather and The Godfather Part II by legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, but have you ever seen The Conversation? The thriller was filmed by Coppola in between the two Godfather movies and stars Gene Hackman as a surveillance expert in San Francisco who may have just overheard a plot to murder someone.
The tense film is every bit as good as either Godfather movie–some might even say better–and was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. The film also took home the Palme d’Or at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival, and this weekend is your opportunity to see it on the big screen, restored in beautiful 4K picture quality.
The “Path to All In Summer Series” has been a huge hit for the past month in Arlington, drawing huge, hot crowds every week to see some great wrestling from AEW.
But all great things must come to an end, and this Saturday will be your last shot for some time to see AEW in North Texas. So, if you want to relive the days of gritty weekly televised wrestling in DFW, this Saturday is your last shot, at least for a while. And it will feature a No. 1 contender’s match for the AEW Tag Team Championship between FTR and The Acclaimed.
Sunday, Aug. 18
Still need to do your back-to-school shopping? Taylor Pendleton Art and Downtown Dallas have you covered this weekend with this market, but they’re not just offering back-to-school supplies.
The market also features more than 25 local vendors to shop from, including books, home decor, clothing and jewelry. The event is free to the public and will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
