Texas Sues Over Federal Guidance for Transgender Employees

  

Texas has joined a Washington conservative policy think tank in asking a federal judge to block guidance from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission requiring certain workplace accommodations for transgender employees.

The EEOC guidance wrongly interprets federal sexual discrimination laws in a way that will force employers to comply with transgender accommodations around bathrooms, dress, and pronouns, Texas said in the lawsuit .

In passing the guidance in April, the EEOC said workplace accommodations are required by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. But Texas said the federal statute only prohibits terminating an employee based on their identification as transgender, …
