Central Texas animal shelters take part in ‘Clear The Shelters’ effort

  

AUSTIN (KXAN) — We checked in on local shelters participating in the Clear The Shelters campaign to see how many adoptable animals they have. Check back on this story as Clear The Shelters progresses for updated numbers.

KXAN reached out to the Austin Animal Center, Austin Pets Alive! and PAWS Shelter of Central Texas for their current numbers.

Austin Humane Society

As of Aug. 16, the Austin Humane Society has 66 adoptable animals. Adoptable animals at the shelter can be viewed here.

Georgetown Animal Services

As of Aug. 16, the Georgetown animal shelter said it has 33 dogs and 9 cats.

Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area

As of Aug. 16, the New Braunfels Humane Society has 400 animals in its care, with 74 of those adoptable.

San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter

As of Aug. 16, the San Marcos regional shelter has 208 dogs and 204 cats.

Texas Humane Heroes

The shelter said on Aug. 16 that it typically has 250 adoptable animals at any given time.

Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter

As of Aug. 16, the shelter has 279 adoptable dogs and 67 adoptable cats.
