Pharr, Texas – The City of Pharr proudly hosted the Deep South Texas State of Water Symposium, an essential gathering organized by Chairman and State Representative Terry Canales, with support from Finance Vice-Chairman Senator Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, and the Texas Water Foundation. This pivotal event brought together key leaders and experts from across the region and state to address the pressing water issues facing the Rio Grande Valley. 

Water management has become a critical concern, impacting the region’s economy, public health, and future growth. This symposium served as a platform for stakeholders to discuss water conservation strategies and sustainable initiatives, ensuring a resilient future for the Valley.

“Water is a fluid subject, no pun intended, it moves quickly and it’s moving quickly and we’re running out of it quickly and so it’s important to have all these people at the table when we’re looking for long-term solutions for the future,” said Chairman Canales.

Pharr Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, M.D. expressed gratitude to Chairman Canales for spearheading this effort, emphasizing the importance of collaborating on solutions ahead of the upcoming legislative session.
