Aggies host Stags for annual Fish Camp Game

   

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Ellis Field is site of Saturday’s Fish Camp Game, one of the most highly anticipated matches of the collegiate soccer calendar, when the No. 24 Texas A&M Aggies host the Fairfield Stags at 8 p.m.

The Fish Camp Game boasts seven of the top 20 regular season attendance marks in collegiate women’ soccer history, including last season’s tally of 6,743 for the match against Baylor.

The Maroon & White look to get back into the win column after Wednesday’s 3-2 loss at Denver. The Aggies opened the season with a 5-0 road domination of the Lamar Cardinals. Sydney Becerra led the assault with five points on two goals and two assists. Grace Ivey added the first two goals of her career and freshman Kat Campbell added to the tally in her first career match.

The Aggies enter the contest with head coach G Guerrieri ranked second among active NCAA Division I coaches. He is three wins from moving past former Florida skipper Becky Burleigh for eighth place on the NCAA’s list for coaching wins among all divisions.

Fairfield enters the fray with a 2-0-0 mark on the season with wins against Holy Cross (2-1) and Central Connecticut State (1-0). Ashlyn Walsh leads the Stag attack with two goals on the season, but the Aggies will have their eyes on Maddy Theriault, Fairfield’s leading scorer from a year ago with 26 points on 10 goals and six assists. Katie Wright, who owns a 0.50 goals against average in 2024, returns after starting 37 of the 38 matches the last two seasons.Skip AdThe Aggies and Stags are facing each other for the first time on the pitch. In fact, this marks Texas A&M’s first match against a team from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

The match is available on SEC Network+ with David Ellis (play-by-play) and Jeff Given (color) on the broadcast. A radio call of the match is available with the voice of Casey Atnip painting the picture. The match airs on Gospel 97.3 FM in the Brazos Valley with the audio also available in the 12th Man Mobile app.
