Notre Dame ready for challenging environment at Texas A&M

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – We’re a week away from Notre Dame’s season opener at Texas A&M, and one key factor will be the weather, as the high temperatures in Texas are expected to create a challenging environment for the Fighting Irish.

The current forecast for College Station shows a high of 96 degrees with 24% humidity and a low of 75 degrees. Notre Dame has prioritized hydration daily, regardless of the temperature.

It won’t just be a hot day, but an intense atmosphere as well. Texas A&M’s Kyle Field has an official capacity of 102,733.

Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock is all too familiar with the environment.

“It’s a hornet’s nest,” Denbrock said. “I mean, it is loud, chaotic, warm, I think someone brought up. We are going to have to be careful about how much motion and shifting and different things that we build within the game plan because you can’t hear. Communication is hard. I think the work we have done with the good doctor, about focusing, and blocking out the noise… literally the noise. It’s going to be huge factor on how we perform.”

Kickoff for next Saturday’s tilt against the Aggies is set for 7:30 p.m. EDT on ABC.
