Kamala Harris is in a tough spot.
She wants to cite her experience as a reason to vote for her. However, her experience ties her to Joe Biden and all his failed policies, as she is his second in the Biden-Harris administration. So she’s sort of caught between the devil and the deep blue sea trying to paint herself as something different. That’s why she’s flip-flopping all over the place, trying to run away from the policies she has been identified with in the past.

It’s actually sort of hilarious that she’s ripping off former President Donald Trump’s policies to seem more right like the “no tax on tips.” She’s now endorsed the bill that includes a requirement to build the border wall, one of Trump’s major policies. She’s even running ads featuring Trump’s border wall prominently.
That says she knows those are the policies that are going to appeal to the American people or she wouldn’t be ripping them off. But for her, it’s about doing anything she can to get elected, even though she previously said she was against the wall and would never support it. So I wouldn’t believe anything she says.

What’s funny is the media trying to carry water for her and deal with that problem she faces — the Joe Biden problem. Check out what Politico said on the matter. It was sort of a “Republicans pounce” bit on what JD Vance was saying about her, “Vance tries to tether Harris to Biden during Michigan rally.”

Imagine any media outlet having the audacity to write something like that, to act that she wasn’t connected to Biden. How dare that evil Vance say such a thing? The article also said Vance tied gas and grocery prices, unattainable home buying for many people, and more than $1 trillion in credit card debt from Americans back to Harris. Sounds about right.
Community Notes didn’t hold back and just leveled Politico, noting the office Harris occupied in the Biden administration. Funny thing, with that she might just have tethered herself to Biden. She doesn’t need Vance to do that, she did it herself. She can’t really unburden herself from what has been, even if she and the media try to separate her.
This headline also implicitly seems to acknowledge being tethered to Biden is bad. Good job there, guys. You got one thing right.
It looks like Politico may have amended their title to the article without any editor’s note after people started pushing back. And they definitely got a talking-to from folks on X, who ripped into them for their attempt.

I guess Politico didn’t check in with this comment from Susan Rice to find out they’re being offensive.
