A Texas Longhorn is the new Heisman Trophy favorite

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Texas Longhorns made quite the statement over the weekend with a dominant win over the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines. Now it seems the football world is taking note of the Longhorns’ team and their star quarterback.

Quinn Ewers threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns without committing a turnover in the victory. He’s taken another step forward in his third season in Austin.

FanDuel Sportsbook and BetMGM both updated their odds for the Heisman Trophy this year and have a new favorite. Quinn Ewers leads both now as the favorite to win the award. Behind Ewers are other quarterbacks like Cam Ward from Miami, Carson Beck of Georgia and Dillon Gabriel of Oregon.

Ewers and the Longhorns moved up a spot in the AP Poll to No. 2 after the 31-12 win in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The junior quarterback now has thrown for 506 yards and six touchdowns on the season.

Texas is back in action Saturday at home at 6 p.m. vs. UTSA. The official pregame show of Texas football is Texas Gameday and airs this Saturday at 5 p.m. on KBVO.
