DALLAS — It’s a boy!
There’s a new baby giraffe at the Dallas Zoo.
The Zoo announced that mam Giraffe Chrystal gave birth to the calf on Aug. 22, tipping the scales at 123 pounds. The zoo’s newest addition is already standing nearly 6 feet tall.
In a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the calf is seen walking around his enclosure while bonding with his mom Chrystal.
“He’s already melting hearts and stealing the spotlight in the Feed Yard,” the zoo said.
Back in March 2023, the zoo announced that Mama Chrystal gave birth to a healthy female giraffe.
The calf born in August doesn’t have a name yet — or at least it hasn’t been revealed. Name suggestions on social media include “Umbazi” and “George.”
The zoo will make an announcement as soon as a name is chosen. They will also share additional information about when visitors will be able to see the new addition.
