More than 3,000 charities participating in North Texas Giving Day on Thursday

More than 3,000 local nonprofits are seeking donations Thursday during the 16th annual North Texas Giving Day.

During the event, 100% of the donations go to nonprofits in more than two dozen cause areas across 20 counties in North Texas.

Last year, more than $60 million was raised by 97,132 donors with donations coming from all 50 states and more than 40 countries.

This is the Communities Foundation of Texas’ largest community investment initiative and has raised more than $566 million in 15 years. North Texas Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation, according to the foundation.

Although the official “North Texas Giving Day” is Thursday, the online giving campaign began accepting donations September 1 and had raised more than $28 million by 8 a.m. Thursday.

More than 100 Dallas-based nonprofits have been participating every year since the event’s inception in 2009, Nicole Paquette, Communities Foundation of Texas senior director, communications, public relations, and external affairs, told Community Impact.
